The Mission
To support a regional and rural development that could provide a substantial economic growth and to create a sound environment for sustainable development of food and agricultural sectors

The Ministry¡¯s vision
To develop an intensified food and agricultural sectors that is able to compete on domestic and international markets and overcome natural risks.

Strategic aims
1. To provide with multilateral support and timely important recommendations on strategical plan and policy guidelines in order to implement a duties and objectives which are under responsibility of the Minister of Food and Agriculture.
2. To carry out state administration management and coordination services ;
3. To coordinate the implementation of food and agricultural policies;
4. To conduct a monitoring and evaluation on implementation of the food and agricultural sectors¡¯ policies;
5. To improve veterinary services and organize an activities in order to protect livestock and animal health;
6. To develop and expand sector¡¯s external relations.


Priorities of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture will work giving a priorities on the following issues:
1. Introducing an innovated modern management system and experiences, developing national technology, introducing scientific achievements and discoveries in production processes;
2. Supporting different legal entities and private sectors in the food and agricultural sectors, enhancing the management of the entities and increasing their market competitiveness;
3. Utilizing agricultural land appropriately, rehabilitating and increasing pasture capacity, extending irrigation activities and improving water point usage and ownership;
4. Increasing the number of livestock and herd¡¯s quality, protecting livestock genetic resources as well as preventing livestock from natural disasters, increasing export of food and agriculture-originated raw materials;
5. Preventing livestock and animal parasite diseases, improving efficiency of treatments and reducing disease distribution and outbreaks constantly;
6. Renovating the crop production machinery and techniques, introducing intensification, increasing food supply and ensuring a food safety;
7. Developing cooperatives and farms and providing multilaterial supports and assistances to establish cooperatives for reducing poverty, creating an employment and diversifying services;
8. Increasing loan capacities in rural areas, supporting foreign investment, improving agricultural management and securing the vanguard of human resource.

 

  Universities
 

 

  • National University of Mongolia

    The National University of Mongolia is the country¡¯s oldest and only comprehensive university and a leading center of sciences, education and culture. It was established on October 5, 1942 in the capital city Ulaanbaatar with three faculties: Pedagogical, Medical and Veterinary Sciences. During the inception period of its history and hardship of the Second World War, the former Soviet Union had provided a degree of assistance, including sending qualified experts and academics and supply of training materials and equipment.

    The NUM has played a significant role in the development of the higher education in Mongolia. In 1958, the Veterinary Faculty separated from the University to become the Agricultural University. In 1961, the Medical Faculty became the Medical University. The Technical University and the University of Humanities became independent universities in 1982.
